Glenn Greenwald is talking to Dem members of the Judiciary in hopes that they will do better with NSA Hearings that the Alito Debacle

The 4th Amendment is the embodiment of that concept and to allow the President of the Untited
States to violate that Amendment, unchecked, is to grant to him powers that were denied to even
the King of England.
The 4th Amendment is America's "No Trespassing" sign, and it takes a warrant for even the
President to trespass against American citizens. Unless we concede to be less than serfs under a
monarch.
here is an article which links to a declassified document in pdf that seems to say that the
NSA warrantless spying started prior to 9/11. YOu may already have this but it would seem to kill
Bush's arguments that "9/11 is a different kind of war" that requires he ignore FISA. It also would
seem to call into question his claim that the Sept. authorization for use of force gave him implicit
authourity to conduct this surveillance.

Here is something interesting: Cheney and Rumsfeld sought expanded wiretaps earlier than
9/11 -- during the Ford Administration!

Juan Cole has excellent articles on NSA Spy Scandal
you need to read this post from Juan Cole going back to August 2004, will put some of the pieces in place for you:
http://www.juancole.com/2004/08/...se- expands.html
I have been hoping like hell that Fitz trips on the AIPAC stuff as he goes about his work; figured he has a good chance of it if he was looking into the Niger documents themselves.
Juan Cole's latest which is a very good King George rant .... but what struck me is Cole's comment further down the page, linked to a rather bland UPI article:
There is some sort of deep dark conspiracy involved in the stationing of 120 Bulgarian troops at the Ashraf base in Iraq to guard 4000 members of the Iranian dissident terrorist cult, the Mojahedin-e Khalq [MEK]. The group was used by Saddam to blow things up in Iran, and has been defended by Neocons in the US such as Daniel Pipes and Patrick Clawson. The Iraqi Shiites want it out of Iraq, but instead the Pentagon has kept it in place. A lot of the phony intelligence about alleged Iranian nuclear weapons programs is manufactured by the MEK, which has bought a number of powerful US senators and congressmen.
Anyone know more about this - our favorite Gorilla perhaps?

FEMA Left Poor to Die
http://www.epluribusmedia.org/features/20060109FEMA.html
FEMA's Decisions Have a Nameby
Barbara Morrill (BarbinMD)10 January 2006
Last month, an ePluribus Media investigation revealed the crippling effects on FEMA's ability to prepare for and respond to a disaster in the wake of the Department of Homeland Security's Second Stage Review (2SR). As the second attempt to restructure the department since 2001, 2SR was based on the recommendations in a study by The Heritage Foundation and the Center of Strategic and International Studies.
Yet, in the aftermath of the terrible loss of life, property, and a way of life for untold thousands, one must ask if the real disaster of Hurricane Katrina didn't strike months before, a thousand miles away, when Secretary Michael Chertoff announced the decision to implement 2SR. This story is an attempt to put a human face on people affected by this decision, and while doing so, remembering that the 2006 hurricane season begins in just five months. Will FEMA's mission be accomplished this year?
As it has for more than 20 years, FEMA’s mission remains...
~~Wow, When uncovered that Heritage Foundation report, and how it focused on infrastructures that really didn't affect people, I had a general idea of how Chertoff's 2SR was designed to hurt people.I'm almost speechless after reading your story. I mean, kfred put together a great sidebar with the December story with links to news stories related to the neglected infrastructures. But what you've done takes it a step further--maybe in a direction we really don't want to go, but we must go there. We've got to keep going back to the Bush administration's failure to answer to the people.
Thank you for writing the story.
~Great Fema's Ghost! Terrific work. Is there any aspect of our social deconstruction that right wing think tanks like Heritage and CSIS don't have a hand in?
~How much more heartache??? Thank you - you took us where we would not go even if dragged by our hair, but go we must.I just can't get my brain around the cold-hearted thoughtlessness, or the short-sightedness of the thinktanks. How souless must they be to think these thoughts, how cold are these supposed leaders of ours to implement these plans?
~FEMA and possible pandemic Your post here is a great reminder that we are, for all intents and purposes, completely on our own. As it seems very unlikely FEMA or any other gov agency will be of much help in future disasters. Let's take one possibility that may affect the whole country... Asian(bird) influenza pandemic.
So far there have been a couple of articles in our major daily paper on the need for a two-week home food and supply inventory, in the case of a quarantine. Local doctors and city official have had some talks, no definite conclusion, no plan, no recommendations for the public. County nurses have heard they will be responsible for much of the health care... How? They are currently understaffed and underbudgetted. Again, I ask how?
If the ramifications of a possible pandemic have been discussed here previously please let me know.
I'm normally at BoomanTribune, but I can see I will need to be spending some more time here. You've developed a great site in the interval since the Gannon/Guckert days. ~~
the corruption is simply beyond belief. The hyper-inflation we will all face form this profligate, deficit spending is astronomical. Already gold is soaring in anticipation of a plummeting dollar. new orleans will prove to the world that the dollar is the biggest fraud ever perpetrated on humanity...It's only backed up by bush's ever-increasing debt.
~~~The devastation about to be unleashed on New Orleans will make Katrina seem like a summer breeze.
This could turn out to be the most disgusting, greedy, and heartless act thus far
~~~
Placing rove in charge of the rebuilding of New Orleans is just another attempt to foil the Fitzgerald Grand jury, when Fitzgerald returns indictments against Rove Bush will paint Rove as indispensable to the recovery of the Gulf and Fitzgerald’s indictment as a partisan attempt to interfere with recovery attempts. Having rove in charge of the recovery will give Bush “a legitimate reason” to pardon Rove thereby burying the investigation into Plame’s outing. Rove has NEVER been in charge of anything except partisan politics; to suddenly place him in charge of the largest public works program in the memory of the vast majority of Americans alive today has to be more than an attempt to shovel billions to Halliburton and cronies (Any Bush hack could do that with the blessing of Congress). Rove must be seen as indispensable to the well being of the nation, as usual the republicans place partisan politics above EVERYTHING, EVEN THE DEATHS OF THOUSANDS OF AMERICANS (SEE 9/11/2001)
http://www.smirkingchimp.com/article.php?sid=22797&mode=thread&order=1&thold=0
Such as the sometimes ghoulish Congressional attempts to transform the entire Gulf Coast into a giant laboratory for the social Darwinist agenda radical Republicans have mostly failed to inflict on the nation at large.
Well, they certainly better re-think and have a care here, because they are toying with setting off a socio-economic time bomb that could wreak havoc and make Katrina's natural devastation look like a party aftermath.
In today's Denver Post, p. 6A, a disturbing story, 'Charley Evacuees Hold Lessons for Katrina's Victims' shows how those hurricane victims from Charlotte County, FL serve as a cautionary tale.
As the article notes, the free shelters- in the form of FEMA-supplied trailers- were initially welcomed by thankful survivors. But almost a year later, most are still there - waiting and hiping for housing. They are becoming "increasingly frustrated, depressed and desperate".
A major reason is that while they've been in those trailers, no home reconstruction has occurred - there's been no will for capital re-investment on low cost homes - and meanwhile the housing market has exploded. Houses are now 50-60% higher and rents are unaffordable. (now $900-1000 a month). (As apts. were restored, landlords found that they could substantially increase their rents in a very tight market, and they plan to keep them there).
According to Bob Hebert, director of recovery for Charlotte Ctt, cited in the article: "FEMA city is now a socio-economic time bomb just waiting to blow up".
He adds that - you have all these different people- already under tremendous stress (they must vacate their free FEMA trailers in Feb.) and "bad things will happen". Especially as, according to him, "they have no where else to go".
Toss in the hundreds of thousands of displaced folk, families from Katrina and you have the making of an even bigger social catastrophe. Toss in a host of Social Darwinist "weeding" methods, and you have the "match" that may set the whole national tinderbox on fire.
Hebert advises those setting up trailer camps for the N.O. and other Gulf residents, ""not to have big camps with thousands of people, because it doesn't work". As he points out, in his area crime and vandalism at the site have exploded.
Of course, the social Darwinists may not care in the end. If they can get all the poor people (estimated now at some 37 million) to kill each other as they shout 'Cry havoc, unleash the dogs of civil war!' it will mean they can move to the next round of their pre-Peak Oil survival of the fittest strategy: eliminating the middle class - or better- getting them to eliminate themselves.
~It's true. I live in Lee County, one over from Charlotte County. "Regular Folks" are getting priced out of this area... my daughter and her husband are having a terrible time saving for a home purchase. The divide is frightening...
Please read this article - a response to an overheard conversation in a restaurant recently about Katrina, God's blessings, and the social divide.

NSA Illegal Spying to Blackmail for Congressional Votes - Dems Failing to Stand Up for Americans
The Reid "organized crime statement" is interesting.
He used a really attention-getting comparison but really didn't justify it in the speech.Is there stuff he could have included in the speech but left out that justifies the comparison?Maybe he was counting on audience members in Congress to fill in the blanks with anecdotes from their own lives.

Get Down, Get Dirty OK, just some surmise here:
These are just random things, a rant of sorts, and no, I don't have Proof Beyond a Reasonable Doubt that would stand up in a court of law.
OK, BushCo spies bigtime on Merkans from Day One.
If that's true, then gee, it could not have been a response to 9-11, since that happened months AFTERWARD.
I recall reading somewhere on the almighty internet that DARPA and other dark-forces elements of the military-industrial complex were helping promote Diebold-style computerized voting overseas, referring to the systems as "election solutions."
In--deed.
Also, get ye back to the Franklin Credit Union coverup, and the stories about how a lot of high-level pols of BOTH parties are routinely blackmailed by being photographed f'ing children, or at best persons not their lawfully weddeds, at Washington sex parties.
Now I'm beginning to hear voices bouncing off my Reynoldswrap-chapeau. What if the Pugs were pissed off at having been out of office due to Ross Perot, and had in mind from before Scalia hadda bail 'em out that it was time to make national elections a complete farce, complete sideshow, with assured "election solution" outcomes (PUGS WIN!) while maintaining the hoopla, the illusion we schmucks have of choosing our overlords, and (bien sur messieurs-dames) continuing to serve as the occasion for soliciting bribes.
And, maybe so many of our valiant Democratic leaders fold up when the rubber hits the fascist road, 'cause they know that NSA and Bush have those photos from the men's room at the Vince Lombardi Rest Area on the New Jersey Turnpike, what when the Boy Scouts were there and all.
Couldn't our Elected Representatives maybe just be satisfied with a discreet mistress like in the old days? Do they have to f*** little boys 'n' girls, especially when they know, or ought to know, that the camera's a-rollin'?
Google "Craig Spence" and "Lawrence King" and "Oma" and child sex abuse." Also, supposedly a lot of Merkan runaways end up as sex slaves to Saudi royals, and the State Department lets 'em take US kids out of the country.
I think we're getting into the end-game of a decades-long plan. It involves blackmail, drugs, treason, shredding the Constitution in favor of the Fuehrerprinzip; slaughtering a few thousand "nobodies" to get the blank check for fascism of wars and aggression, and wagering that, as long as they get to punch an impressive-looking machine on "election day," only a tiny percentage of Merkans will get much exercised if the computer changes 6% of all of the "Kerry" votes to "Bush" votes or "Cleland" votes to "Chambliss" votes etc.
The best hope is that some patriots inside the beast start speaking out, because hardly any Merkans are willing to fight to preserve their freedom.
Y'all keep connecting dots, now, hear?

NSA and Domestic Espionag PsyOps Against US Citizens
22 December 2005The NSA and Domestic Espionage (Part Two)
Grab'em by the balls, and their hearts and minds will follow.
-Vietnam era slogan
The Bush NSA FISA "leak"story is a modified limited hangout (if it can be called that) dirty trick to intentionally expose (as opposed to cover up) a domestic psychological warfare operation against the citizens of the United States in a time of "war."
It is a surveillance and Fourth Amendment information warfare version of the Abu Gharib scandal.
George W. Bush has intentionally discredited himself again with another so called "leak" in order to scare the American people into further complicity in and passive acceptance of the so called "war on terror" and the war in Iraq. This "scandal" further perpetuates the image of the Bush Administration as lawless, dangerous, reckless and even bumbling rogue mercenaries capable of anything. This is a "three-headed hydra" psychological operation, with the Pentagon and FBI at the end of the other two "heads."
The Democrats and the American people are falling for it again-- hook, line and sinker.
Is there no end to the myopia ?
Senator Chuch Hagel (R-NE) via Daily Kos. An appropriately myopic reply from Senator Hagel:
"Every president, that we know of, has complied with the law (FISA)," Hagel said. "No president is above the law. We are a nation of laws and no president, majority leader, or chief justice of the Supreme Court can unilaterally or arbitrarily avoid a law or dismiss a law. If the vice president holds a different point of view, then he holds a different point of view."
Based on the facts that are out there concerning whether domestic spying abuses were taking place, Hagel said, there was a "breakdown."

=Is it possible Bush is lying about a lie ? The lie in this case being an at least three decades old charade about a FISA court order being required to surveil on the American people?
The back channel British liaison officer loophole is still in effect, despite the FISA provisions.
More from John Loftus:
FISA is restricted only to targeting by American agencies, leaving the British liaison officer with a major loophole. The restrictive language added to FISA left unchanged the arrangement under which the British wiretapped American suspects and then passed on the information to the NSA.

Fact: By comparing the contents of computers, anyone can see that most republicans are obsessed with pedophillia, rape, torture, and an endless variety of illegal, unconcentual and frightening sexuality. Liberals on the other hand, have legal, mainstream porn.
You don’t need to take my word on it - INVESTIGATE FOR YOURSELF!
1. Go to <http://www.k-lite.tk/>; and download "Kazaa Lite". There are other file-sharing programs like this, but I’ve never used them so I can’t give instructions for them.
2. This is very important: don’t download anything, because odds are, it’s probably stolen. If you do decide to download something, get as many anti-virus programs as you can. Your computer is about to engage in some wild orgies so put as many rubbers on him that he gets it on like the Michilin Tire Man. There are free demos you can get, which are 100% legal. For example, I did a search for "Avg anti-virus" and got a good demo.
3. Start by searching for something conservative. I searched for "Rush Limbaugh" and "Gods and Generals".
4. Now that you’ve found something conservative, right-click on the file and select "Search for more from same…" and drag to "User". Now you can see what files that user has on his computer. This is not hacking, this is a 100% legal way to spy on people, and, dare I saw, even read their minds.
5. You might want to confirm that you’re dealing with a republican. Some clues are lots of country music, "Southern Rock" (normal rock isn’t white enough for them), professional wrestling, tractor pull clips, etc, they’ve all got them. There’s another type of file they all have, which I’m getting too.
6. Notice the column headers. Click "Size" and you can set either the biggest or smallest files at the top of the list. Video files are the biggest, other than software. Also, click "category" and the list will segregate, scroll up and down until you find "erotica".
7. Just by reading the titles and descriptions you can get an idea of what they like. By holding your pointer over a file, a description will pop up after a while. If the description is unclear or uses words that you don’t understand, DON’T download them. Some code-words, by the way "nudist" usually means they went to a nude beach and pointed a hidden camera at kids, "golden shower" has nothing to do with trickle down economics (no wait - it has EVERYTHING to do with Bush economics, never mind), "child love" has nothing whatsoever to do with love, "up skirt" ain’t Monroe dancing in an updraft, it’s usually non-consensual. "Bitch" is, of course, the same thing Rush Limbaugh called a 13 year-old Chelsea Clinton.
8. Once your keyboard is obscured due to buildup of vomit, it’s time to do the scientific thing and see what liberals have on their computers. (Get a cup of coffee now, this part is boring). You’ll notice liberals have a fetish for consensual, of age porn, if they need porn at all, and out of the corner of my eye I may or may not have witnessed soft-core.
9. Repeat this experiment until satisfied. Note: users with only a few files, or only audio files (who think they’re using napster) don’t count towards the final score, of course.
So far I’ve done 3 experiments, while chatting on IRC. Each link brings up the chat log, with chatter on other topics removed.

Republican parole board officer and former Colorado state representative, Larry Jack Schwarz <http://www.armchairsubversive.com/schwarz.htm>;, was fired after child pornography was found in his possession.
Republican strategist and Citadel Military College graduate Robin Vanderwall <http://www.armchairsubversive.com/Vanderwall.htm>; was convicted in Virginia on five counts of soliciting sex <http://www.democraticunderground.com/top10/03/96.html>; from boys and girls over the internet.
Congressman requests we sign his Impeachment Inquiry letter IMPORTANT
Please sign Rep. Conyers' Impeachment bill letter/petition.
Shameful that he still only has about 26,000 signatures when the Downing Street Memo Petition garnered 500,000 signatures. Where is everyone who has been demanding impeachment when it comes time to sign a letter/petition by a Congressperson who has stuck his neck way out to legally begin the Impeachment Inquiry process.
Please sign and post info on other sites.
Thank you.
Most Important Impeachment Petition/Letter by Rep. Conyers EVER!!
Congressman Conyers has used the Impeach-Word several times in his proposed Impeachment Inquiry and has several other members of the House of Representatives as co-sponsors but needs more and has asked for our help in signing his letter to Bush and in writing to our Congresscritters to request they support him in investigating the Bush Regime's massive illegal activities harming the American people. The Evil is So Great It Must Be The Tribulation Period as Jesus said - Hope of Resurrection and The City of God - No War, No More
White Phosphorus atrocities at Falluja at the time of the 2004 Presidential "election" so that Kerry or any Dem or any Media reporting would look like a traitor if talked about the atrocities. This genocidal offensive was planned to coincide with the theft of the election.I'd say this was a parting present from the Bu$h administration to the incoming Dem administration, in a way like Waco was to Clinton and Reno. Only problem for Bu$h is that the election fraud worked keeping him in the role of responsibility for this war crime.
Though it technically isn't napalm as it's not gasoline jelly, the W77 does use kerosene jelly and polystyrene so it's effects are just as dramatic as napalm. White Phosphorus isn't supposed to be used as a weapon either, it's legitimate legal use is to illuminate the battlefield. Using it against a civilian population is beyond the pale.
These people in the leadership positions have made our soldiers accomplices in war crimes.
As Americans, we also are responsible for what they have done in our name. This infuriates me. I never wanted to be part of this, but I am. Just when you think you cannot get any more angry. Bastards. will this ever break through to general consciousness? maybe in 20 years....
but I hope the power of the "internets" brings it out sooner.
Now I've got to run and vomit, before leaving for work.
(arg, I hate the feeling of knowing turdCo was evil right from the start but couldn't make it stop.... Yep, and Negroponte's fingerprints are all over that little deed n/tSo that's why they ambushed her car and killed that agent

I've thought about this, too. I'm glad you mentioned it. It seems logical that they were the ones, as they were the only ones who would actually NOT want her to expose what had happened in Fallujah. She said they told her she should not reveal what she had learned.
That wouldn't make sense from the insurgent position. Giuliana Sgrena is in the video Giuliana Sgrena (the italian reporter) is in the video and says plain and simple that she was researching about Falluja when she was kidnapped. Okay, finally had time to finish reading it does everyone here remember all the Brits and Americans that were dressed like insurgents that were caught?
Couldn't her kidnapping had been by these types of insurgents? Democratic Americans are the best force we have in the world. (hey... I don't mean the party!!! LOL)
Wasn't this what the Italian reporter was working on when she was fired on by American forces? (when she was taken hostage and freed)
Is white phosphorous considered a chemical weapon? I know, first hand, that we have been using it in combat for a long time. It was used in grenades during WWII, Korea and I saw it in Vietnam. If it is being used on civilians then that is totally wrong and criminal, but if it is used in combat against armed military forces I believe it is an accepted practice.
Willy Peter is a horrible weapon. It will burn right through a body and there is little that can be done to stop it. Unlike napalm, where the oxygen is sucked right out of the air immediately resulting in instant death before inceneration, white phosphorous literally eats the flesh away from its live victims.
War is barbaric. If this is the chemical similar to napalm, they were using it at the beginning of the war too, which is Completely against International Law. this is a global terrorism against humanity this administration and their criminals belong in the gas chamber ....
would this be tied to jenin by any chance?

Thanks for the RAI news link. I wonder if I can be brave enough to watch this horror? These are War crimes no room for excuses. The individuals that gave the orders to use these prohibited weapons are War Criminals. If they are not Prosecuted for their crimes they will go on to commit more and so will those that follow in their foot steps.
This is not the time to be silent it is the time to Stand Up and SHOUT NOT IN MY NAME Not with my tax dollars incinerating Women and children.NO!! Hope all DUers do this
Sending this Video to everyone I know & encouraging then to do the same. Then I'm sending it to the Producers of Frontline see what they think.

There was discussion here at the time it was happening or shortly thereafter. (Can't search for the thread now since we're at Level 1)
The stories and discussion were about a napalm type substance that was used during the 'taking' of
Fallujah. The media did not report anything about the claim at the time. They had clips from it on Democracy Now! this morning Don't plan on eating after you watch it.
Pentagon had a spokesman in Baghdad, who admited using White Phosphorous, but not on civilians. But the film clips show otherwise. Those Pictures are from "Freedom on The March - Exporting freedom and democracy to the Persian Gulf"
How can you possibly have the moral high ground when you're troops are doing this to people?

Think of it this way: A few dozen emails by Kossacks to each of these outlets might get ONE of them to cover it. If ONE of them covers it, it breaks and becomes a huge story in the US. Americans react in shame, sorrow, and outrage, and the growing pressure to come up with an exit strategy becomes a deluge.
Maybe we all can end this nightmare of a war tonight.
I feel like a broken record... but I'll say it again..thanks for this diary and:
PLEASE please people e-mail media outlets about this story. Go to CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS and
just hit "CONTACT NOW" on their homepages. It is the LEAST we can do... just write a couple lines asking these media outlets to LOOK INTO this story, at the very least.
If you can, do the same with your senators/congressmen/women....We CAN draw attention to this, we MUST TRY at least to do so. Do your part, your letters can make a difference.

The links I put below are not graphic, at least with my firewall/ad-blocker settings.
These are more factual text things. Still turns my stomach When "shock and awe" happened, I was definitely shocked and awed. I've read what happens when cluster bombs are dropped in unevacuated neighborhoods.
This whole war has been horrifyingly criminal from "rolling the product out" to finish. I know I'll never see the perpetrators brought to justice, except in my own sweet imagination. If I was fortunate enough to preside over their war crimes trials, I lock them up in a dark cell with daily rice pilaf, water and a toilet and I'd throw away the key.

I respectfully disagree The link is important.

Mind you, I don't know who Uruknet is and whether these pictures are authentic. I hope they are not, but have a sinking feeling they are.
having read hopefulcanadian's diary earlier, I have no doubt the photos are either real or might as well be. oops I meant the diaries on the Rec list about this. I thought of hopefulcanadian because his/her comments are so passionate about it.
just look at the subject matterthere. Looks to me like uruknet is a Iraq insurgency public relations.
so what? If US public relations in Fallujah caused that i don't give a damn where i hear it from.
No one can terrorize a whole nation, unless we are all his accomplices. -- Edward R Murrow
so what yourself did I say it was good? bad? It is what it is. and this is coming out just NOW? I saw those pictures a year ago. I'm kinda surprised that this is a, well, surprise to anyone on dailykos. This was all reported when we destroyed Fallujah, but most people weren't paying attention I guess.
Hey, we also shot people who were trying to escape the city by swimming across the river!
Fallujah makes Mai Lai look like a simple hunting accident.
that's what i was wondering I saw something this morning but hadn't had time to check out the other diaries. Yeah, i saw those photos probably within a month of the Fallujah offensive.
The Atrocities of the Main Stream Media
As it was in WWII with concentration camps, and again in Vietnam with napalm burned children, images of the horror of war are finally making their way out of the fog and into the public eye.
A year ago or more, if editors and organizations had made the first news and imagery of these atrocities front page, first column stories, then there would have been more of a groundswell of opinion and lives would have been saved.
You don't have to be a soldier to be "a good soldier." The number of Iraqi's killed over the past several years because a few US leaders duped their country and the "coalition of the willing" is a horrible atrocity that the main stream media has under-reported because it supports the status quo.
Only now, despite the lack of main stream media coverage, the truth about the deceptive path to war and the horrid and widespread death and destruction brought by the White House War is dawning on the public. Only now are the administrations "approval" ratings sinking almost as low as pre-resignation Nixon.
The main stream media can wring its collective hands as much as it wants but the bottom line is that this White House War has been, at best, condoned and tacitly supported by moguls, publishers, producers, editors, and reporters.
Everyday people cannot be expected to collect facts, it is the moral responsibility of news organizations to perform this service for society. The indignation I feel toward the media players that have helped carry out these crimes against humanity, from Rupert Murdoch down to Judy Miller, is without bounds.
I blame the mains stream media as much as I blame Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld.
Blame Bush and Cheney first, then MSM
Yes, the RWCM has covered for the Bushite scum, but they did not order the torture or use of chemical weapons, or the entire illegal war- that was Bush and Cheney.
Bush and Cheney both need to take the fall for their illegal actions. Stop torture by impeaching Bush and Cheney.
Nov 08, 2005 Here are links: IRAQ: PHOSPHOR OVER FALLUJA
International Law, Fire Bombs in Iraq: Napalm By Any Other Name
Totally inhumane, unnecessary, counter-productive and disgusting (like cluster bombs and land mines), unless you peddle these munitions.
Mon Nov 07, 2005 Thanks for the links. That was the type of info I was looking for before seeing stuff I couldn't bear to look at.
Mon Nov 07, 2005 And we are doing this to a country that never attacked us!
Saying NO to corruption is honorable.
Mon Nov 07, 2005 "At walls stick parts of human meat" From a German link in the post above:
"-grenades with white phosphor have been fired on Falluja which created a wall of fire, burning all the time (phosphor flames can`t be stopped by water - phosphor creates fire by a chemical reaction).
many people did melt; so enormous is the heat
Iraqi doctor Kamal Hadeethi told journalists of the Washington Post: I've seen many people injured; the streets are full of crying people -and full of dead people: they even were melt down to the street. Falluja residents told that all the streets are destroyed, houses are ruines, and at walls stick parts of human meat.
white phosphor reacts simply by contact with air and creates temperatures which even make metal melt - when white phosphor burns it sets free clouds of toxic smog. therefore white phosphor can also be seen as a chemical weapon
white phosphor was used in WW II against german cities."
Nov 07, 2005 Good Diary! If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever. [George Orwell]
Alternate views Thanks...Lots of folks on other diaries citing technicalities in the treaties and conventions on weapons...but you know, any bastard who uses WP as an areal weapon in a mixed civilian/insurgent zone has committed a crime against humanity...legalisms be damned.
If we shall fail to defend the Constitution, I shall fail in the attempt.
Mon Nov 07, 2005I think this is worth repeating In April 2001, arms control experts reported that international verification of the ban on chemical weapons would have to be sharply curtailed "because the United States and other key parties to the treaty [mentioning Russia] have not paid their way."
[snip]
The US was the only country to insist on exemption from certain inspections and tests when the Senate ratified the Chemical Weapons Convention in 1997. The Bush administration decided to withdraw from negotiations to institute verification measures for the 1972 Biological and Toxic Weapons Convention, effectively terminating them.
From Noam Chomsky, Hegemony or Survival, pp. 232-233.
If the opposition starts to pick apart your case, they will start with nitpicking like this (followed by
arguments about kerning...). Would rather not give them the opportunity. Thanks for a powerful diary entry; it adds considerable weight to the others posted on the use of WP.
Tue Nov 08, 2005 Many of us don't know what WP is. Please describe. Gut-wrenching as it may be, we must know what the effects of this substance is on human beings. Please educate me - and I would suggest editing your diary to add the description. People will not be outraged unless they know what the stuff is.
Thank you for posting this diary.
Mon Nov 07, 2005 What is White Phosphorushttp://www.emedicine.com/...
"White phosphorus has been used commonly by the military as an incendiary agent or as an igniter for munitions. It commonly is found in hand grenades, mortar and artillery rounds, and smoke bombs. Munitions-quality white phosphorus commonly is found in solid form. When exposed to air, it spontaneously ignites and is oxidized rapidly to phosphorus pentoxide. Such heat is produced by this reaction that the element bursts into a yellow flame and produces a dense white smoke. Phosphorus also becomes luminous in the dark, and this property is conveyed to "tracer bullets." This chemical reaction continues until either all the material is consumed or the element is deprived of oxygen. "

German correspondent shocked about staged Biloxi events
The "tagesschau" is the most popular German news program by far, aired at 8 p.m. The German US correspondents, usually very careful in criticizing the US government, were outraged.
Christina Adelhardt was in Biloxi the whole day. She said she couldn't believe what she saw: Rescue teams, teams for searching bodies and their vehicles showed up, but without being necessary at all - the area was vacated since days.
She said: I'm shocked about the amount of destruction caused by Katrina. But the choreographed events I've seen here today shocked me the same, if not more.

Christine Adelhardt live from Biloxi:
"Two minutes ago the President drove by with his convoy. What happened here in Biloxi during the day is really unbelievable. All of a sudden the rescue troops finally showed up, the clean-up vehicles; we didn't see those over the last days here. In an area where it really isn't urgent, there is nobody around, all the remaining people went to the city center.
The President is traveling with a press convoy, so they get wonderful pictures saying the president was here and the help will follow. The amount of this catastrophe shocked me, but the amount of set-up that happened here today is at least equally shocking for me.

There was a striking discrepancy between the CNN International report on the Bush visit to the New Orleans disaster zone, yesterday, and reports of the same event by German TV.
ZDF News reported that the president's visit was a completely staged event. Their crew witnessed how the open air food distribution point Bush visited in front of the cameras was torn down immediately after the president and the herd of 'news people' had left and that others which were allegedly being set up were abandoned at the same time.
The people in the area were once again left to fend for themselves, said ZDF.

From a press release LA Senator Mary Landrieu sent out today:
But perhaps the greatest disappointment stands at the breached 17th Street levee. Touring this critical site yesterday with the President, I saw what I believed to be a real and significant effort to get a handle on a major cause of this catastrophe. Flying over this critical spot again this morning, less than 24 hours later, it became apparent that yesterday we witnessed a hastily prepared stage set for a Presidential photo opportunity; and the desperately needed resources we saw were this morning reduced to a single, lonely piece of equipment. The good and decent people of southeast Louisiana and the Gulf Coast - black and white, rich and poor, young and old - deserve far better from their national governmeent.

"What is this? The House of a Banana Republic?" cried Rep. Waxman when the Republicans allowed indicted Delay to illegally delay the vote on oil refineries and pollution. Why wasn't Delay in prison? Why didn't the Seargent at Arms throw him out of the Congress since Delay had resigned his Leadership position after many indictments?

Frankenstein's monster is on the loose
By Luciana Bohne
Online Journal Contributing Writer
September 2, 2005—Well, yes, there is a kind of shocking distillation of meaning in the catastrophe that hit the city of New Orleans. It's as if the belly of the beast that is the US imperial leviathan has been turned over—its underbelly exposed. There, you can see the reality: two nations, one rich, one poor; one televised, the other invisible—until now.
Abject poverty, criminal infrastructural neglect, opportunistic defunding of minimal preventive planning, disaster relief resources otherwise engaged abroad in protecting the interests of oligarchs, industrial poisons erupting at a mere shrug of nature from their thin disguise just beneath the urban surface of triumphant financial capitalism—a river of murderous toxins running free, running free in the streets of the city of
sweetness, the city of food, the city of jazz like a Frankenstein's monster shaking loose his chains and going after its creator:
"Free markets, free markets, free markets," he's calling, laughing madly, "here I am, your creature, your bastard, your long-suppressed experiment in planned anarchy for profit, your pig-ethics child. Your beloved; your nightmare."
Gasoline prices rising.
New Orleans—welcome to Baghdad!
As it shall be abroad, so it will be at home. Poor people ain't got no home, no electricity, no water. No hospitals, no schools, no city. New Orleans, welcome to Fallujah, to Gaza, to Haiti, to El Salvador, to Nicaragua.
Bechtel, Kellogg Root & Brown, Carlyle, Halliburton welcome you to "globalization": the pain is yours; the gain is theirs.
Welcome to a civilization that ridicules science as an entity beneath treason. Welcome to the freedom and democracy of a state that knows no social contract, where you are born with a gun in your hand but no concept of the common good; a state that owes you nothing but owns you body and soul—in the unemployment lines, in the soup kitchens, in the army recruitment centers, in the prisons, on death row, in the schools that teach you nothing, in front of your television screens that lie and string you along with cynical contempt. To your doom, to your doom, for what is freedom without resources?
The courts have evicted you: there is no bankruptcy for you, no socialism for you. Debtor prison is good enough for you. Government handouts, in the form of corporate socialism, are strictly bookmarked for corporations. No one cares about you. Yours is not to reason why; yours is but to pray and die.
Welcome to the Plan for the New American Century. Welcome to the New World Order. Welcome. It stands exposed. Right there in New Orleans.
America, welcome to your planned future as a domestic, internal third world. Welcome to personal and public chronic indebtedness. Welcome to a bloated "defense" budget that cannot assist you, let alone "defend" you from a hurricane in the age of science. Welcome to the offensive budget that makes your country dependent on China for daily loans. Welcome to the multicolored ribbons in support of a war that kills your troops—your children, who are not here, not at home to help with their strength, their youth,
their bravery, their idealism in pulling you out of the toxic flood waters.
Welcome. Dr. Frankenstein's monster's vengeance is at our door.

NEW ORLEANS — There are plenty of things missing from New Orleans these days, but perhaps nothing is as noticeable as the absence of children. The city is virtually "childless," and that's done little to lift people's spirits here.
In a town of empty playgrounds and abandoned toys, David Day's son, Thomas, is alone.

some say junior is stupid. He's not stupid, maybe insane
Scowcroft is one of Poppy's mouthpieces. They are good friends.
He would never say this stuff without Poppy's approval.
~You got it Bu$h I is the same as his little boy. The guy is a weasel. Always has been. Then for some so called 'hero' like Snowcrotch to come riding in to save the day is just so much BS.
As for the 'success' of Gulf I, has anybody checked the Veterans Adm lately about those strange cancers that keep popping-up. And how about how Poppy set-up Hussein when the Emir of Kuwait was slant drilling into Iraqi oil fields and told Hussein to go ahead and do something about it, the USA would stay back.
And how about the phony information about how Hussein was getting ready to invade Saudi Arabia. That war was a slaughter of the Iraqi. There was never any doubt whatsoever, the crummy Russian arms were no match. The stealth bombers came in (blind to radar) and knocked out all the Iraqi air defenses, after that it was a turkey shoot. As for holding back, don't believe it.
Virtually every electric plant, water purification plant, sewer plant, telephone system, everything was destroyed. The only reason they didn't march to Baghdad then was because Poppy didn't want to bust-up the coalition. If he could have done it, he would have done just what junior did. Iraq was left prostrate and the coalition walked away, even putting sanctions so the country had no chance to rebuild. None.
In light of how he set-up Hussein for that invasion and the subsequent oil for food program that from what I hear has killed 2,000,000 Iraqi children due to starvation, Bu$h I has nothing, nothing to be proud of. He is just like junior.
And now he is gonna scold junior? This is so much BS, where are my hip boots?
~Some could disagree I say Junior is doing exactly what he is supposed to be doing, that is destroy the USA. And he's doing a marvelous job of doing just that.
If we look at what is happening, with a war thats bleeding us dry, with the loss of economic stability, the selling of our assets to a foreign power, all this is going exactly to the IMF playbook.
Remember Poppy's speech about the NWO. Junior is following the overall strategy to a 'T'.
And some say junior is stupid. He's not stupid, maybe insane, but far from stupid. Underestimate him at our peril.
Even the dumbing down of any federal response ability is part of the plan.
This perpetual war will destroy our military, thats part of the plan too. To privatize the military and socialize its cost for the international corporate interests. It's part of killing democracy around the world and removing power from people.
After taking down the USA, then taking down the rest of the world by these globalist/corporatist operating within the IMF will be a walk in the park.
It's all part of bringing a NWO, and that comes from Poppy's own mouth. And juniors is playing his role to make that NWO happen, just like Poppy played his role. These guys are not incompetent.
~Good advice. I agree. Bush I stripped Iraq of all defenses,
then AWOL bombed, invaded and occupied. Maybe it's an oil fight. Who gets to "manage" the loot? Dunno. Of one thing you can be sure: the views of the sovereign people of the United States are not factored in. We're just pawns in their game (--as that greatest of seers Bob Dylan once sang).
~disinformation Scowcroft is Condi's mentor. She learned "diplomacy" at his knee.
Believe NOTHING from longtime Bush associates. Nothing.

"Trying to eliminate Saddam, extending the ground war into an occupation of Iraq, would have violated our guideline about not changing objectives in midstream, engaging in "mission creep," and would have incurred incalculable human and political costs. Apprehending him was probably impossible.
We had been unable to find Noriega in Panama, which we knew intimately. We would have been forced to occupy Baghdad and, in effect, rule Iraq. The coalition would instantly have collapsed, the Arabs deserting it in anger and other allies pulling out as well. Under the circumstances, there was no viable "exit strategy" we could see, violating another of our principles. Furthermore, we had been self-consciously trying to set a pattern for handling aggression in the post-Cold War world.
Going in and occupying Iraq, thus unilaterally exceeding the United Nations' mandate, would have destroyed the precedent of international response to aggression that we hoped to establish. Had we gone the invasion route, the United States could conceivably still be an occupying power in a bitterly hostile land. It would have been a dramatically different — and perhaps barren — outcome."

"Essentially, the Doctrine expresses that military action should be used only as a last resort and only if there is a clear risk to national security by the intended target; the force, when used, should be overwhelming and disproportionate to the force used by the enemy; there must be strong support for the campaign by the general public; and there must be a clear exit strategy from the conflict in which the military is engaged."

I don't see myself ever voting for one because I still disagree with them on too many issues, but I do respect Republicans who speak out against other Republicans instead of brainlessly and obediently toeing the party line--especially those who did it before it became popular. Wasn't Scowcroft one of the people from Bush I's administration who were criticizing the war before it even began?
Also, I liked the last paragraph:
A cartoon in the Washington Post Friday depicted the Bush White House being inundated by "The Perfect Storm" of Miers, Hurricane Katrina, Iraq, Rove, the budget deficit and the indictment this week of the Republican leader in the House of Representatives, Tom DeLay, on charges of money laundering campaign funds.
Only a few months ago, a news article would NEVER have included a description of an anti-Bush cartoon.

That number dipped only once, in the few weeks of the invasion with U.S. troops at max risk, then went right back up to nearly 60%, where it stayed throughout the election.
Also, Bush's approval ratings, never high (except for a very brief period right after 9/11), were so low, leading up to the election, that Zogby said he could not win.
The opinions of the great majority of Americans are irrelevant to these people.

~~Old Bush vs. new (Bracing for attack from Brent Scowcroft)
http://www.upi.com/SecurityTerrorism/view.php?StoryID=2...
The Bush administration is bracing for a powerful new attack by Brent Scowcroft, the respected national security adviser to the first President George Bush.
A Republican and a former Air Force general, Scowcroft is a leading member of the bipartisan foreign policy establishment, and his critique of both of the style and the substance of the Bush White House, is slated to appear in Monday's editions of the New Yorker magazine.
The article also contains some critical comments on the handling of U.S. foreign policy by the current President Bush from his father, whose 1989-1993 presidency is hailed for deft management of the end of the Cold War, German unification, the first Gulf war and the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The attack also comes as President Bush's opinion poll approval ratings have sunk to around 37 percent, partly reflecting the ill-handled federal government response to Hurricane Katrina's devastation of the Gulf coast. But majorities of Americans are also telling pollsters the country "is on the wrong track" and saying the Iraq war was a mistake.
~disagree with your assessment
I think, at this stage of the game, that going after someone like Scowcroft will absolutely reek of desperation. The bush administration is in deep sh*t now for their dangerous game of vengeance against Wilson. They have far overplayed their hand. The masks have come off. They are exposed. Scowcroft has probably been waiting for this moment for a long, long time.
Of course, with Wilson, there are many more layers than merely vengeance, but in time people will know about those, too.
~Scowcraft will bring a different level of stature and insight to the critique, it will be devastating. He may be the strongest foriegn policy strategist in country, and because of his prior relationship with the father and first Iraq war. It will be like an adult finally saying something to f*ck up kids who are in over their head.

Why Wilkerson revelations not news? Oct 21, 2005 6:15 AM
Nothing.

This makes me change my mind about gun control. I was for it, but reading this about the citizens of NO having to turn in registered guns -- yet these Blackhawk thugs have guns -- has made me reconsider. What's that saying the NRA types like:
"outlaw guns and only outlaws will have guns"? Well, now these
government-sanctioned outlaws are the only people in NO with guns!

As a former volunteer fire fighter, I remember how I thought I would respond to my first interior attack in full turnout with sixty pounds of breathing apparatus. I was scared sh*tless, but I made it. On the other hand, I saw people with enormous courage falter when it got hot, and shields were melting. The point is we never really know whether we would bash the glass at Walmart for some diamond rings, electronics, whatever.
What happens to us all when there is no one watching, and the
world has turned upside down. The whole idea of applying a global term to the entire populace stranded there by choice or circumstances immediately turns a receptive audience into a non-receptive one because this is all so damn complex. We are trying to wrestle a five-hundred pound marshmallow here with what we believe, what we know, and our fears about how this thing has turned us all inside out.
On another note, I have spent the last year driving all over the country (45k in ten months alone) doing little government jobs. In my travels I have encountered a litany of individuals that have one thing in common: their lives were good enough, and they were busy enough to allow a shallow glance over the events of the world, nothing really affecting them directly. A thing I believe we are now correcting in a simple way. We are talking to one another more deeply about our future instead of pretending it is all fine. covers Federal, state and local. The object is to do everything legally, and within the bounds of the authority granted. It is also used to find potential conflicts in the laws and regulations, and point them out so that legislators can de-conflict them.
Here, apparantly, the governor of the state hired a third-party contractor, who is also a federal government contractor. It is an interesting question as to how many such contractors can be hired, before it begins to "degrade" the federal effort in Iraq.
At both levels, contractors are supposed to be Equal Opportunity Employers, and conform to federal and state laws. In a gung-ho business like mercenaries, it is not probable that their employers are in strict conformance with those laws and
regulations. Another question raised is whether some of the money from the contractors gets funneled into political campaigns somehow.

GOOD OL' DAYS continued Sep 16, 2005
To understand how the Neo-Cons are undermining our democracy read Banana Republicans by Stauber and Rampton. Then read The Republican Noise Machine (especially chapt. 11: ÂHate Radio and Chapt. 12 Information Wars by David Brock. These are two extremely important books which describe the destructive Neo-Con political strategy. They are both meticulously documented and thoroughly referenced. David Brock is particularly feared and hated in the Neo-Con attack machine because he has seen it work from the inside (see Blinded by the Right Block).
The tactics of the Neo-Cons will only succeed with the acquiescence of an apathetic electorate. Those who don't get informed and don't call them on their propaganda and lies (by objecting to media sycophants who repeat Neo-Con Big Lies) only help those who would undermine our Democracy.
http://www.Move-on.org has it set up so you can email newspapers across the country to register your disgust at the way the media sycophants are pandering to Neocons by slanting their presentation of the news and by not aggressively reporting cases of the Republicans use of propaganda delivered by the news media.
It is up to YOU, who are reading this article(not somebody else) to take a stand for democracy. Without your voice we might see it slip away and sooner than you might think!
~~~I work for Blackwater on Sep 14, 2005]
Here go my poor little fingers again. I think I explained that some guys are current law enforcement officers in some capacity and may be displaying their badges for identification puposes.. I don't think anyone has been deputized, but it wouldn't be a crazy idea considering the circumstances. However I did ask about it unofficially and I was told that no one had been deputized. We may have some contracts protecting some federal agencies or organizations. Again it would be no surprise.
The whole insistence on authority to shoot to kill is ridiculous. (my note: Gov. Blanco said the 82nd Airborne (?) was locked and loaded and would shoot "looters" i.e. people who should have received food, water, dry clothing, blankets and a way out of the drowning City of New Orleans - your tax dollars are supposed to pay for rescuing victims of disasters, not imprisoning them and shooting them when they "loot" to survive.)
You people need to research use of force law a little bit. We can only use the same amount of force that is legally permissible for a citizen or security guard. We have the use of force information in our possession and have been briefed on it. Deadly force can not be used simply to defend property. If someone was deputized they would still fall under these rules but would be allowed to use force to make misd. arrests and under specific circumstances (ten. v. garner) would be allowed to use deadly force to prevent
escape of violent felons.
Why can't we get this crazy idea out of our heads. Are we authorized to use deadly force against a deadly force attack on us? Hell yes, but so is everyone else. I think there is some miscommunication going on on both sides of the story. Some BW guys may not have explained the situation in the proper terms, and some people in the media may be twisting words to better fit their agendas.
I am in contact with the guys downtown and we had a good laugh at all of the allegations we have heard. I had a team on speaker phone and we all laughed together for about 20 minutes. All of us have military and/or police background and we are trying to do the right thing. The last thing any of us would do would be to
confiscate weapons from joe public.
(my note: According to numerous MSM sources, citizens' weapons were confiscated whether by the 82nd Airborne, illegally acting against Posse Comiterus or Mercenaries, it was unclear since even a big name in journalism like Brian Williams had guns pointed at him and his team and lesser known journalists had their cameras smashed by police, see Amy Goodman interviews on Democracy Now! Pacifica Internet Radio)
what is up with the mercenary cliche? I am a us citizen operating on us soil. Is a guard at the bank or grocery store a mercenary. We serve us interests at home or abroad.
We live in what the Bible calls the Last Days.
Things taking place now are clearly identified in the Bible as a sign that we are living in the final scenes of this bedarkened World.
Satan the Devil is behind these things, but Jesus Christ as the Rider on the White Horse depicted in the Bible Book of Revelations, will defeat him and bring about peaceful conditions.
We are tempted to point our fingers at individuals as the cause of the problems of Mankind, but it is not men that are behind these events, it is the wicked spirit creatures, the unseen Demons that work under Satan that are the ones causing so many woes to mankind.
We need to look to Jehovah God and his Son Jesus Christ as the answer to mankind's problems. Only by decisively taking a stand with Jehovah as the One that can solve our problems will we be able to be successful.
We cannot take a stand with any human as the solution. Our only hope comes from Heaven, Our only hope is our creator.....
~~Goodbye on Sep 13, 2005
I have to go now.
I am heading to New Orleans to give away what tools I no longer need; It is all I have to offer those that I have never given to before, so I hope it helps.
Toilet Boy - I hope you discover critical thinking skills, I think your heart is in the right place but your mind is in neutral. Pick this all apart for your well being, it is important.
Olypiada - Continue to read everything you can. Knowledge is one thing no one can take from you. It will fuel your engines and stir your passions and make you a tiger to be reckoned with.
Captain Marvel - If you are still out there, save us all.
Bogey11 - Scream from the rooftops, rant, write, and roll.
Ely Whitney - invent us another cotton gin and make sure we know how to use it.
BadLawDog - Be careful witsterilizationization thing, we may need some smart kids with wit to protect ourselves.
Sojourner - Continue the side trip into this world of craziness and help people understand it.
Colin, across the pond - Don't take your eyes off of our country for a single moment.
And many others I have read here, take this dialogue to the street, don't let anyone bury their head any longer. Make sure that everyone knows what is at stake and hammer it home.
It has been a great experience to stop here for a while, and I hope for all of us that something good will spring from it. I am inclined to think so, just because of what I have seen in the public forum over the last fifteen years. I am encouraged, because we are beginning to scream together even if does not now appear so.
I have to go, I have work to do. Good luck to us all.
~American education...Sep 13, 2005
When you drop off your children for twelve years with total strangers and ignore the importance of phonics in learning to read, you get a populace that should be capable of two things; not thinking for themselves and being able to push the buttons down at the rubber dogsh*t factory.
You have to go back at least 150 years to understand why you do something so f*cking crazy on a second glance.
My wife teaches remedial English and humanities to incoming freshman at a businessschool here in Florida. This year she is faced with full classrooms of students from many areas of Florida, mixed with the trickle of international students still showing up there. She is reduced to rants every night because of the domestic student's inability to read and an inability or complete lack of critical thinking skills.
The international students are clearly much, much better at our language than we are. Why?
John Taylor Gatto has written a book about this called The Underground History of American Education I urge anyone to read it if you wish to understand how we have become such idiots in the eyes of the rest of the planet, and more precisely, the
mindset from which it came. It dropped a bomb into my brain about the why-to-for on what I have always seen as my own failure in education.
Read it and judge for yourself what has been created and why. Then understand the fear of some that are training the rubber dogsh*t molding machine operators how to operate them with pictures instead of words because they can't read.
If we want better leaders as a whole, we must build better minds. There are those that think the masses can not think for themselves, in one respect they are correct. I think those guys are running my country right now. Guns and Daisies will not bring
us any closer to what we need to survive as a nation. We need reading skills, badly.
I have a friend that is a doctor. He brags about how he got through school without reading much at all. He hates reading because he can't very well. He also is a Republican in mind and spirit that has no intention of ever paying back his student
loans. He cannot defend his views at all but does so anyway with vitriol, anger; it is all he has. Sound familiar?
~~~The US President has always been a muppet Sep 12, 2005
GW Bush is clearly just a front for the problems in the USA. He can't help it if he is stupid, simple & a recovering drug addict. I don't think even he is aware of whats going on around him & ever has been. No wonder those around him appear like manipulative tyrants... since has texas beginnings.
He can't help being what he is. Monkey see monkey do. How can bush be the primary problem?. He's purely a muppet like Kermit & the cookie monster. The spin has been turning on the people of the USA since long long ago. Americans are too placated & too brainwashed. The system have been in palce since the 1970's. Its
really is some more powerful sinister force thats been acting on a plan for well over 40 years.
Luckily history shows empires (good or bad) don't last.
You all know bush is merely a distraction for what is really going on in behind the closed doors of power in the USA. Calls to impeach Bush will just draw the attention away from the real focus of modern American problems - a failure of general government and the consequential abuse of power. Look at the farce resulting from the last attempt to impeach a US president. What is wrong with the US is the fooling & dumbing of the citizenery.
Clearly a country which today globally spawns cr*p stuff like American Idol tv, fast- food franchises & an over-the-top obsession with the cult of celebrity has greater problems to deal with than being discourgaed by & blaming poor leadership.
Taking a chip of the top of the pyramid will do nothing to it. And it will stand for 1000 years. Eroding it from its very foundations from the bottom will topple it to the ground. Only then can plans be drawn up for an improved or new vision of
America.
~~~I work for Blackwater on Sep 14, 2005]
Here go my poor little fingers again. I think I explained that some guys are current law enforcement officers in some capacity and may be displaying their badges for identification puposes.. I don't think anyone has been deputized, but it wouldn't be a crazy idea considering the circumstances. However I did ask about it unofficially and I was told that no one had been deputized. We may have some contracts protecting some federal agencies or organizations. Again it would be no surprise.
The whole insistence on authority to shoot to kill is ridiculous. (my note: Gov. Blanco said the 82nd Airborne (?) was locked and loaded and would shoot "looters" i.e. people who should have received food, water, dry clothing, blankets and a way out of the drowning City of New Orleans - your tax dollars are supposed to pay for rescuing victims of disasters, not imprisoning them and shooting them when they "loot" to survive.)
You people need to research use of force law a little bit. We can only use the same amount of force that is legally permissible for a citizen or security guard. We have the use of force information in our possession and have been briefed on it. Deadly force can not be used simply to defend property. If someone was deputized they would still fall under these rules but would be allowed to use force to make misd. arrests and under specific circumstances (ten. v. garner) would be allowed to use deadly force to prevent
escape of violent felons.
Why can't we get this crazy idea out of our heads. Are we authorized to use deadly force against a deadly force attack on us? Hell yes, but so is everyone else. I think there is some miscommunication going on on both sides of the story. Some BW guys may not have explained the situation in the proper terms, and some people in the media may be twisting words to better fit their agendas.
